Feel Good Fashion

London Fashion Week swept through the city in five fabulous days — a whirlwind of creativity, colour and emotion. This season, the mood was best described as “bold nostalgia”, blending vibrant expression with timeless romanticism. More than just clothes, each collection showed how fashion can elevate mood, inspire confidence and spark joy.

Bold Statements & Joyful Energy

Bold colours have a unique power: they lift the mood, ignite creativity, and make unforgettable statements. Ashish perfectly embodied this energy with dazzling rainbow sequins and playful beans on the runway, setting a joyous tone. Simone Rocha fused rich tones with satin fabrics, while APUJAN stayed true to his storytelling inspiration, blending fantasy with literature into garments which challenged both form & meaning, inspiring open-mindedness and imagination.

Robes & Bling by Akokomali, part of UDGN, shimmered & drew gasps with statement gowns adorned with cowries and coral sequins — worn like talismans for strength and wealth. Meanwhile, Erdem stunned audiences with an eye-popping palette of pinks and neon greens, proving that bold doesn’t have to mean loud; it can also be uplifting.

Romance Reimagined

The theme of romance infused many shows with a sense of warmth and poetic beauty. Ginny Litscher presented bold, evocative art balanced with tribal textures, vibrant colours and floating elegance, evoking unity and light. Simone Rocha draped sheer tulle, romantic florals and lace over structured skirts, while Erdem sculpted feminine hourglass silhouettes with exaggerated hips and delicate bows at the neck, wrists and ankles.

At the Little Italy Antonio D’Errico show, Japanese florals and lace transformed the runway into a sensory dreamscape. Having been dressed by Antonio himself, I can confirm: his designs make you feel like you’re gliding with grace — a beautiful reminder of how fashion can enhance not just how you look, but how you move and feel.

Retro Vibes & 1980s Energy

The spirit of 1980s nostalgia brought a thrilling energy of excess, individuality and retro flair. H&M led with shoulder-padded suits and bold tie combinations, while Aaron Esh paid homage to rock ‘n’ roll. Edeline Lee stood out with polished two-piece workwear, and INFDark celebrated the decade’s fearless diversity with checks, prints and pops of neon with garments that transform & adapt. MITETUSH of UDGN’s streetwear with soul impressed with oversized silhouettes adorned with Cowrie shell details, gleaming like protective amulets — a perfect fusion of fashion culture and symbolism.

Countryside Chic & Comfort

One of my personal highlights was fashion that transports you to the countryside, reminding us how clothing can evoke serenity and connection to nature. Burberry and Barbour delivered perfectly with waxed jackets, heritage checks, elegant embroidery and soft, cosy textures. Their practical yet chic pieces blended comfort and sophistication, wrapping the wearer in a sense of calm.

The Feel-Good Power of Fashion

This season’s London Fashion Week reminded us that fashion is so much more than fabric. It’s about how colours, textures and shapes can influence our emotions — whether that’s the confidence of a structured silhouette, the nostalgia of retro prints, or the serenity of countryside chic. Fashion offers a way to express ourselves, connect with our roots, and most importantly, feel good in our own skin.
