Can you share a pivotal moment or experience that inspired you to start your journey in the wellbeing industry?

I’ve been involved in the health and well-being world in one way or another for most of my life. Both of my parents were practitioners and / or involved in various pursuits within the industry. From assisting them both in the beginning, to then working with others on the admin, marketing and the operations of their businesses and then assisting in facilitation, I’ve always had a toe in. Even when I tried to move into a whole new world, and worked in the TV industry, I still had support roles in the personal growth or holistic wellbeing world

Can you tell us a little bit about your business?

I am an artist, author, mystic, facilitator, and award winning master coach. I bring together a range of modalities and experience to assist creative, complex, courageous and often neurospicy ‘misfits’ to become empowered, embodied and fully expresses, allowing them to drop the perceptions and projections of who they think that they ‘should’ be in order to survive and become ‘full of themselves’ so that they can self actualise and thrive!

How do you prioritise your own wellbeing while running a business?

My main ‘tool’ is called The Value Filter and is also known as ‘your compass’ which began its life as a values elicitation tool, but has evolved into a way of living that allows me and all my clients to prioritize the things that matter.

The Value Filter offers daily, personalized guidance that makes your wellbeing and the things you value’ the heart of your life and your business or work and using it every day for the last 10 years is what helps me to know what I need more or less of to remain in equanimity.

What role has your personal wellness played in overcoming obstacles and maintaining resilience?

I think that my personal wellbeing has informed my business in more ways than I initially ever really realized. I’ve always seen myself as ‘unemployable’ but its only when I got my autism and ADHD diagnosis aged 42 and 25 years into being self employed that I actually understood how intrinsically entwined my wellbeing and my business are. My business is a vehicle for my wellbeing, and my wellness is the content, and driving force behind my business.

How has your own health and wellbeing philosophy influenced your business?

My spiritual health and wellbeing isn’t something that I think or talk about really because it’s so built into who I am, and how I ‘be me’, but it is also delicately woven into every aspect of my work. The way I see beauty, and the body’s wisdom inform every area of my work, from my books, to my cards, to the courses and podcasts – all of it is a tapestry of my health and wellbeing philosophy. In fact I just shared a photo of a glass of eggs and a glass of apple cider vinegar in my instagram stories, asking ‘who knows what I am about to do with these?” as I went to wash my hair after a lunchtime dip in the sea. My life is my art, my art is my work, my work is my life and my life is art. It all feeds into each other which makes it self sustaining and like its own ecosystem of me. I am a walking talking embodiment of my own empowerment journey. Everything in my work comes back to empowerment, embodiment and full self expression and these pillars form the lifeblood of my philosophy and my work.

Can you share a specific self-care practice that has had a significant impact on your overall wellbeing?

Every Friday morning I have a massage (except for exceptions.) . I have been doing this for 2 years now and the impact on my overall wellbeing and approach to my business is profound. Firstly, I have more energy. I have lost weight and inflammation. I am able to think more clearly. It reduced my anxiety and overwhelm, both the massage, but also the marking of time each week with a ritual that involves going somewhere and doing something for myself every week. This simple act of ‘self care’ offers me a restful, yin, embodied way to transition from weekday to weekend, and from the ‘active’ version of me to the ‘receptive’ version of me – having this be a pillar of my week has allowed me to make real conscious shifts

How do you stay updated on the latest trends and ensure your business aligns with current wellness practices?

The truth is that I don’t – I have no interest in trends. My work and my connection to wellbeing is timeless, classic and evolves with the tides and cycles of mine and the earth’s seasons and evolution from the inside out, rather than the outside in.

Have there been moments where you had to make choices that challenged your personal values for the sake of business growth?

My values are my compass and all my decisions and choices are made using my body’s intelligence and these values. The more I embody my Human Design the more true this becomes, but business growth is never and will never be more important than my values. Slow and sustainable growth rooted in personal integrity is at the core of my business and who I am.

Looking back at your journey, is there a particular mistake or setback that taught you valuable lessons about the importance of wellbeing?

In 2021 I lost three friends, many clients and my business of 10 years as a result of honouring my wellbeing. I took a sabbatical which on the surface caused the cards to fall and my life to crumble, but the truth is that from the ashes something more rewarding and sustainable emerged. Even though in the short term the fiduciary failure of the business, the loss of friendships and ‘my reputation’ felt awful, in hindsight all of this led to a more aligned personal and professional life.

Do you have any projects you are currently working on, and how does your own journey influence that vision?

I am in the midst of a kind of restructuring of my business model that offers me even more liberation for this next chapter.

My personal passage toward perimenopause is influencing my desire for less time at a desk and even less of a rigid schedule. This means that I am working on funnels, systemised sales and creative structures that support me in having a regular income without working regular hours.

Whilst right now this means that there are days (and nights) that feel long and tedious as I build out new infrastructure – my years of experience tell me that these subtle shifts and the effort now will pay off ten fold soon enough.
