A new ancient medicine holistic healing manual suggests the answer lies not in doing more, but in doing the same things consciously

Most health routines are built for the body. The green smoothie, the daily step count, the supplements lined up by the kettle, the eight hours we try to protect. All of it is worthwhile, and all of it is aimed at one layer of us: the physical body one.

Yet many people who keep these routines faithfully still feel scattered, restless or quietly flat. The body is being looked after. Something else is not.

Amitaeus’ Holistic Healing Manual offers a new perspective on our existing habits and lifestyles. Written by Amit Gupta, MD, a practitioner of ancient medicine, the 770-page manual on natural healing for the human body, mind, and spirit is the culmination of his work over the last two decades. Dr. Gupta has developed numerous programs to help patients improve their health and gain financial control over routine care, including being a founder of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). The central idea of the manual is simple: health is not something you take; it is something your body creates. And the body that creates it is only one of five layers that require attention.

From routine to awareness

This is where the book departs from most health advice. Rather than handing readers a new routine, it works through five levers they already use every day: food, movement, breath, use of therapies and remedies, and the rhythm of their day. A meal, a walk or a bedtime is not judged by how much was done, but by what it brought into the system. A casual meal becomes a conscious one, valued not by the quantity of its macronutrients but by the quality it brings. Used this way, each lever becomes a form of mindfulness: a daily way of noticing which force is running high, and of nudging it back.

That awareness doesn’t stay in the body. A person who learns to notice what unsettles their digestion soon notices what unsettles their mind, and from there what pulls them away from themselves. This is how the book moves a reader from the physical layer towards the mind, the wisdom layer and, eventually, harmony.

A map for the whole person

To guide that journey, the manual offers far more than general advice. It explains why the same food can steady one person and unsettle another, by looking at its qualities rather than its nutrients alone, and why some food combinations work against digestion. It describes the lifestyle patterns that quietly push each force out of balance, and the corrective paths that bring it back. Where change takes time, it draws on more than 1,300 herbs and classical formulations and over 640 therapies to support the body while habits shift.

It also reaches into territory that many readers will recognize from their own lives: chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. Patients often leave the doctor’s office with a prescription but little guidance on how to eat or live. For each of these, the book offers diet and lifestyle paths designed to be used alongside medical care.

Deeper, not longer

All of this rests on one practical promise: it adds very little time. You don’t need a longer routine; you need a deeper one. The meals, movement and rest are already part of your day. What changes is the attention you bring to them, and so which layers of you they reach.

At more than 770 pages, the manual is a reference to return to for years, with a constitution assessment, more than 440 foods organized by body type, and guidance on over 450 conditions and symptoms. Its step-by-step Harmony Paths, one for each body type, are also available in a companion app, iHealer, which builds the practice layer by layer, from the body upwards.

The book’s aim is to help readers depend less on protocols and more on the body’s own ability to heal. Seen through its five layers, that begins with a question worth asking of any routine: is it caring only for the body, or for the whole of you?

Amitaeus’ Holistic Healing Manual is available in paperback, Kindle and full-color hardcover editions on November 11, 2026.
