Walking for a Purpose, Cause and Passion

It’s nearly that time when Sophie Brown (Founder of Bristol Steppin Sistas) has decided to go for the walking dream

She will be walking 100 miles during May 2023 to raise funds for a project called Reparations Bristol Youth Projects

The walk will start from Bristol and end in Reading – 5 days on the Kennet and Avon Canal path – resting in B&Bs along the way.

Its been 4 years in the making to take that big step to walk all the way to Reading.

My Dream

It started one day when I took a stroll from Bath to Braford-on- Avon along the glorious Kennet & Avon Canal  I then realised the path went further ahead, at that point I didn’t have much daylight time to carry on walking, so I kept to the original plan and stopped at Bradford-on-Avon.

Ever since that day I have continued to walk from Bath to Bradford-on-Avon and visualising walking all the way to Reading.

Back in November 2022 I decided to make a decision and go for it, and all I needed was a good cause, support and motivation

A good cause

I started by contacting Reparations Bristol Youth Project and asking if I could do a fundraiser for the project by walking.  The answer was yes – so my journey was already in the making .

I was drawn to Reparations Bristol Youth Project because of the work they do for young people , the same audience I have always been passionate about supporting .

You can read about the incredible work they do here www.reparationsbristol.org

So far I have raised £2,020 using the Just Giving Fundraiser Please feel free to donate here www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/sophia-brown-2

Supporters

I am now being supported by Climate Games, BCFM Radio (one of Bristols local radio station)  and ITV WEST Country to help me make my dream come through – High safety measures are in place , so I will be able to enjoy the big experience and live the dream.
