After Sun Spray

There are many different ingredients you could put in your after-sun spray, but these are the ones that I enjoy the most and usually have on hand. I take this on vacation with me and also use it as my toner and after bath moisturizer.

Witch Hazel

Witch hazel can be a soothing and healing help for sunburned skin. It can help to reduce redness, inflammation, and discomfort. Witch hazel is anti-inflammatory and useful in helping red, irritated, uncomfortable skin. It can be cooling on sunburned skin. The antioxidant properties of witch hazel can help protect and heal sunburned skin

Essential Oils to Use in Your After Sun Spray

Many essential oils are known to be soothing and healing for skin. Here are some you might want to add to your after sun spray.

Lavender is soothing and healing and is used to reduce inflammation and promote skin regeneration.

Chamomile is anti-inflammatory and soothing. Use it on your sunburned skin to reduce redness and discomfort.

Helichrysum oil a great oil for skincare and is good for your after sun spray as it will promote skin healing and reduce inflammation.

Peppermint essential oil is cooling and anti-inflammatory so it can help with redness and swelling.

Tea Tree essential oil is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. Use it to help prevent infection and reduce inflammation.

Eucalyptus is cooling and anti-inflammatory. Use it in your after sun spray to help reduce redness and irritation.

After Sun Spray

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup aloe vera juice
  • 1/4 cup witch hazel
  • 1 tablespoon pure vegetable glycerin
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 5 drops chamomile essential oil

Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients together and pour them into a spray bottle.
  2. Shake your spray before you use it.
  3. Keep the spray in the refrigerator to make it even more cooling.
