Set between the pine-clad foothills of the Taurus Mountains and a sweeping stretch of Blue Flag beach in Beldibi, Nirvana Mediterranean Excellence does a lot of things well. But what it truly excels at is wellness. And combining that with luxury? Let’s just call it an over-achiever. Honestly: flawless. No notes. The hotel treads a line previously unmet between indulgence and wellbeing with startling ease: a sprawling five-star property with genuine credentials to back up the wellness claim.

So, yes, it’s all-inclusive. But not in the traditional sense. Because where the Taurus Mountains tumble down to meet the turquoise water, what you’ll find is a property that is absolutely not a conventional resort. The remote sanctuary has been carefully woven into the stunning Turkish landscape, maintaining a sense of intimacy quite frankly remarkable given its size. And there is not a single towel-on-pool-lounger fracas. Ever.

Leaning heavily into its natural setting, accommodation at Nirvana Mediterranean Excellence ranges from contemporary suites to cedar houses tucked among the trees. Wherever you land, the principle holds: let the landscape do the talking. It’s a surprising level of restraint given the vast, glitzy all-inclusive resorts that so often dominate the shoreline.

And this place couldn’t be further apart from that. Ancient red pine forests provide shade from the Anatolian sun, and there’s a hint of cedar and salt in the air as you drift along pathways from villa to sea. There are few places on the Mediterranean where nature still feels like the star attraction. Here, it does.

So to the arrival. There is a genuine feeling of arriving home as you step into the hotel’s vast lobby. Check-in is slick, staff are gregarious, welcome drinks arrive with elegant efficiency. And whilst your luggage gets deftly swept away, you’re handed a direct WhatsApp line to your personal butler. Next you’re led to an electric buggy for the short ride (walkable too, should you fancy it) to the network of single and double-room villas. It’s easy to get lost amongst the trees and the villas, but that all adds to the sense of total escapism. And you can always text your butler to request a buggy ride. Villas are loosely strung together by sporadic pools and al fresco bars, but each invitingly secluded.

Once inside your villa, the sense of space is vast: high ceilings, oversized soft furnishings, bathrooms the size of an entire flat back home. Glass doors – four panels apiece, generous enough to make “double doors” feel like an understatement – slide open onto your own private terrace. And thanks to an abundance of foliage, the feeling of privacy is absolute.

Days are spent pottering from pool to pool (there are 14), and onwards to the glittering Gulf of Antalya. Shoreline cabanas perch atop wooden decking, which continues out to a generous pier. On which, cabanas on said pier each have their own private stairway down to the water – it’s giving Maldives.

At the heart of the hotel’s wellness offering, naturally, is the spa, and it’s a spa done well. Treatments draw on both Mediterranean botanicals and traditional Turkish rituals – hammam sessions, restorative massage, holistic body therapies – all carefully curated to counteract the stresses of modern life. Stepping into the spa is like taking off a heavy jacket – even the pace within its underground walls feels instantly calming. I defy you not to feel the tension lift.

Refreshingly, wellness here extends well beyond the treatment rooms. A well-equipped gym offers personal training, fitness assessments, group classes and yoga, while the outdoors does the rest of the work: morning yoga beneath the pines, beach walks at sunrise. There’s even a running track and padel court for those who’d rather compete than stretch.

Wellness is echoed, too, in the approach to dining. Striding ahead of so many luxury all-inclusives still rooted in excess, there’s a clear emphasis here on seasonal sourcing and nourishment alongside indulgence, with ingredients chosen for provenance under what the hotel calls its Local & Healthy Food concept.

The main restaurant, Samsara, handles breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet-style, with an impressive array of vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free options. But that’s only the opening act. Nirvana ME Excellence has seven à la carte restaurants, each with its own identity. Right at the beachfront is Sea Club, known for its outstandingly fresh seafood. Welldone serves the finest cuts of meat you’ll find in Turkey. Gusto weaves local influence into Italian favourites.

The wellness tourism industry has long been a tale of two opposites. An after-thought by hotels who’ve flung a couple of dumbbells at the problem at one end; restrictive, borderline stressful boot camps at the other. Nirvana Mediterranean Excellence has carved a whole new category. Welcome to the era of indulgent wellbeing. Because it’s still your holiday, after-all.
