Steppin Solo with Nature
It has been 18 months since the Steppin Sistas was born as she is still a baby, growing stronger and in more beautiful places around the South West and now she’s done for the year 2022.
So as I take a deep breath, stretch my arms out and smile, I nod my head telling myself “another walking group season accomplished and done gracefully”
FEELINGS/FEEDBACK
I have now come to the end of our 2022 walks, its been a huge learning curb for me. Meeting new people and collaborating with new organisations. Dealing with things that are new to me, even dealing with the agendas coming through. Lessons are part of life, no matter which direction they come from I recognise and accept they will always come. I just keep my head above water and carry on with my passion, because I know the only person that can change me, is myself, the only person that can hold me down, is myself.
I also, had to make some slight changes to the guidelines that is helping a great deal by keeping the group for the purpose who it was created for in the beginning.
There has been positive feedback from members in the group, everyone seems to be enjoying themselves on the walks. And I endlessly need to thank everyone for the support received. Its such a great feeling to know the group has a huge impact on members lives.
The group has grown to 1,240 members stretched over different social media platforms, minimum 25 members attend each walk, sometimes a little less or sometimes more, but its not all about the numbers, its about each individuals needs and how I can motivate the group to look forward to a great walk.
MEDIA INVOLVEMENT
There’s been a wide attraction from some other organisations and businesses, offering support to Bristol Steppin Sistas by asking us if we can get involved with some small projects they have coming up, this route has helped us promote the group more. So far there have been offers for short film making and a documentary. I never turn down an offer as long as walking is involved, and that I can find the time to help out.
WHATS NEXT for 2023
Well, until we group up again mid-February, I shall carry on solo walking, as I have been since the age of 8 years old, my passion
Solo walking gives me the opportunity to ground myself in nature and think about how beautiful life can be when I tread alone, I can feel and see more going on around me, it gives me gratitude and helps me stay aligned with myself. I have always spent more time alone with myself than to follow a crowd – Empathic Introvert, this does not make me a soft or weak person, no matter how others want to portray me.
I have started the walking diary for 2023 and will still collaborate with outside walking groups. There’s also the filming in the making and a big life change offer starting in November 2023 (more nearer the time). Walks will be twice a month, just so I have my in between breaks. Also hopefully, we will come across some sponsors. So that’s pretty much all for now.
Until next time, thank you
