The original superfood, Bone Broths are set to be BIG in 2024

There’s never been a better time to discover Freja, simply better bone broth. Full of nourishing goodness, Freja broths are 100% natural, packed with collagen and protein and are Great Taste Award-winning, thanks to their rich, delicious and authentic flavour.

Standing the brand apart from the bone broth pack, Freja is a gourmet, store-cupboard friendly broth, made with only the freshest, natural, quality ingredients. Crafted in small batches, using traditional methods, the carefully sourced meaty bones are first roasted and then simmered, low and slow, before herbs and vegetables are added, to create the most rich, nutrient-dense broths.

Available in four flavours, choose from the delicious and versatile food for the soul, Chicken Bone Broth; deep and hearty collagen bomb, Beef Bone Broth; whilst for a sustainable and nutritious taste of the sea, there’s Fish Bone Broth, and completing the range is the delicate and herby Vegan Broth.
Each can be enjoyed as a nourishing drink or as a brilliant base for healthy soups, ramens, sauces and so much more.

Such a simple yet impactful way to upgrade your diet, Freja is the brainchild of husband and wife team, Jess Higgins and Ed Armitage. Inspired by childhood memories of Sunday’s roast being transformed into nourishing soups, they are on a mission to make bone broth a household staple again. Co-founder, Jess, explains: “Our bone broths are packed with essential nutrients that nourish, strengthen and restore our bodies, which we believe is the foundation for a healthier, more energised and fulfilled life. Bone broth is, after all, the basis of how we’ve eaten all over the world for centuries
– a truly forgotten foundational food. Now with our truly delicious, versatile and conveniently packed broths, we want to make it a true pantry staple for modern lives.”

In fact, bone broth has long been hailed as a functional health food and cure-all remedy in cultures around the world, thanks to its high levels of collagen, protein, amino acids and minerals such as calcium and magnesium. It is said to boost metabolism, aid tissue regeneration, sleep and mental wellbeing and is also used to ease inflammation, autoimmune diseases and digestive issues. Freja’s customers have also reported benefits in gut health and immunity, fertility and menopause symptoms, as well as boosts in cognitive function, and hair, skin and nail health.

Offering the highest protein and collagen and lowest calories per 100ml compared to both fresh and shelf-stable bone broth brands, Freja broths are an excellent companion to most healthy diets and lifestyles such as keto, paleo and intermittent fasting. They are also all gluten free, dairy free and
yeast free, without any additives or preservatives.

Sourcing and sustainability is also at the heart of the Freja brand. They carefully and proudly source and produce the range in partnership with small family-run farms in Norway, where responsible farming principles come naturally. As a result, the broths are made from pasture-fed cows and
free-range chickens that are antibiotic, hormone and GMO free. What’s more, the broths, which are all store-cupboard friendly, with a 24-month shelf life, come in fully recyclable, sustainable packaging and with a resealable cap to ensure zero waste.

Tried & tested

We tried the whole range and loved how easy they were to use for soup making. Packed full of goodness and flavour and also tasted fantastic as a beverage. Although you can drink them hot and cold, I personally prefered them warmed especially after a brisk walk on a cold, wet Sunday afternoon! We think these would also make a great way to get goodness back into your body when recovering from illness. For ideas on how to use Bone Broth check out their recipe ideas
