5 Ways to Step into Your Power

Does your Soul Shine?  Do you long for the light to break you open and lead the way to a fulfilling and authentic life? Have you read Soul Shine: Excavate Your Light and Claim Your Soul’s Purpose? Do the 26 women in Soul Shine inspire you, and make you want to write your own chapter? Are you ready to start your excavation and claim your power?  Have you recognized that you have been playing small, quiet, and dim for most of your life?  Are you beginning to feel a tug on your heart and in your soul to expand to your fullest shine?  But you do not know how? Where do you start from within yourself? How do you recover from the decades of people pleasing, darkness, and just existing?  How do you brighten your shine, sharpen your edges, and reclaim your power?

Asking these questions is the first action to stepping into your power.

1) Ask the questions:

Who am I? Who was I before the world told me who I “should” be? What do Iwant?  What lights me up and makes my heart flutter with excitement and joy?  What gifts, skills, words, dreams, or ideas do I hold that no one else does?  What did I want to do and be when I was 8 years old?  When did I stop dreaming?  What have I buried in the expectations of society?

2) Journal:

Write all your questions down and then the unique answers, that only you have.  We often do not know what we are thinking or feeling until we write it or speak it.  Put it down on paper so you can come back to it as you need to.  Do not be afraid to rewrite it as you heart and light expand into the newly discovered realms of your mind and soul.

3) Forgive and Let Go:

Living from a place of resentment and anger will block you from raising your vibrations and living in your true purpose.  Release past grievances so you can make the space for joy and love. Letting go of the past and rewriting your beautiful story will allow you to use the lessons and work through the grief of hurt, wrong turns, other’s opinions, and criticisms.  Struggles are presented to redirect us along the path we are meant to be on.  When we stay stuck in the muck of that struggle, we lose site of the new scenery ahead on our journey.

4) Get Messy:

Growth is not a cut and dry, neat, and clean, step by step process.  You cannot climb a mountain without getting a little mud on you. Sloughing off societal expectations, old scars, and people who hold you back is messy and painful.  Expect ugly cries and restless nights.  Make time for grief and then cleansing. Excavating your soul’s purpose, and stepping into your authentic power, requires rolling up your sleeves and getting dirty.

5) Own Who You Are and Do Not Be Afraid to Show Up in Full Authenticity:

Practice Tadasana.  Stand up straight. Drop your shoulders. Rotate your palms to face slightly forward.  Open your heart.  Lift Your Chin.  Look people in the eye. Let them know that YOU are here, fully awake, and present to who you are. By being open and exuding confidence, just by the way you stand, draws power to your center.  Presenting yourself to the world with strength, and tenacity lets people know that you are bold, beautiful and know your purpose.

This journey is not one and done.  Nor is it linear.  In my experience, it looks more like a maze or kaleidoscope than a path.  The bonus is, it is your kaleidoscope to create, color and flip as much as your heart desires.  As unique as your very fingerprint, is your path to healing, to empowering yourself and to shining in your perfect light.
