Gen Z Have the longest orgasms, but surprisingly Boomers come in close.

Although Gen Z respondents have the longest-lasting orgasms (14.04 seconds on average), Boomers are outperforming Millennials in this area with orgasms lasting longer (11.89 vs 11.04 seconds)

  • Half of men surveyed (50%) always have an orgasm when they have penetrative sex, compared to just a fifth of women surveyed (20%)
  • Men surveyed were over twice as likely as women to expect to orgasm the first time they sleep with a new partner (69% vs 33%)

A new survey from sexual wellness company, Vella Bioscience, has found that although Gen Z report having the longest-lasting orgasms (14.04 seconds on average), Boomers are enjoying their pleasure for longer than their Millennial counterparts (11.89 seconds vs 11.04 seconds, respectively). The research, which surveyed 2,000 nationally representative adults, explored the state of sexual wellness across the UK.

Brits in Sheffield have the longest lasting orgasms (15.52 seconds) and Cardiff have the lowest (10.14 seconds), whilst the highest rate of respondents in Greater London (57%) agree that orgasms are the best thing about sex. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the survey found that half of men surveyed (50%) always have an orgasm when they have penetrative sex, compared to just a fifth of women surveyed (20%).

In terms of dating etiquette, nearly three quarters (73%) of women surveyed have dated someone and not reached an orgasm while having sex with them compared to under 3 in 5 (58%) men surveyed, but a majority of both men (65%) and women (66%) surveyed have never broken up with a lover because they were not satisfied sexually. Emotional attachments are also important in the key to a healthy sex life as 3 in 5 (60%) Brits find it easier to orgasm with a partner with whom you have an emotional attachment.

Commenting on the research, Campaigns Manager Chelsey Edmunds from Escentual.com the online retailer that sells Vella Women’s Pleasure Serum said: “Previously it was thought women reached their sexual peak in their mid to late 30s, but Vella Bioscience’s research showed that the greatest quantity and quality of orgasms for women were, over ten years older. Clearly attitudes towards sex for more mature women are changing and they are more likely to want to have fulfilling sex lives well past the menopause.” Chelsey added: “However it was still quite shocking to see that even with the most sexually satisfied, female respondents only reached orgasm from penetrative sex 53% of the time* and that’s why Vella Women’s Pleasure Serum is such an important product as it increases sexual arousal for women and makes them much more likely to achieve an orgasm every time.”
