Danni Menzies Chats About Dentaid with the Charity’ Jill Harding

In a forthcoming episode of The Health Lottery’s Paying it Forward podcast, host Danni Menzies chats to Dentaid’s Jill Harding about a new charity dental unit launching in Weston-super-Mare this summer.

Dentaid, the renowned dental charity committed to providing outreach dental care for vulnerable individuals across the UK, has announced an exciting new partnership with The Health Lottery. The collaboration aims to bolster Dentaid’s efforts in offering essential oral care services to those in need, particularly individuals facing homelessness, survivors of domestic abuse, families experiencing poverty, and others affected by drug or alcohol harm.

Dentaid’s mission revolves around delivering dental services directly to communities where individuals feel safe and comfortable. Through mobile dental units stationed at various locations such as hostels, soup kitchens and community centres, the charity ensures that crucial dental treatments are accessible to those who need them the most. From pain-relieving procedures like fillings and extractions to oral cancer screenings and general oral health consultations, Dentaid’s volunteers strive to make a tangible difference in the lives of their patients.

“We are thrilled to embark on this journey with The Health Lottery,” says Jill Harding, Head of Communications at Dentaid The Dental Charity. “Their generous support is enabling us to expand our outreach efforts by launching our ninth charity dental unit. This new vehicle will facilitate our mission of bringing dental care directly to communities in need, starting with Weston-super-Mare on June 18th.”

The Health Lottery’s donation not only covers the operational aspects of launching the new dental unit but also supports the provision of dental clinics in Weston-super- Mare, benefiting individuals experiencing homelessness and those on harm reduction programmes for alcohol and drug abuse.

“Our partnership with The Health Lottery marks a significant step forward in our ability to reach more people and make a lasting impact on their oral health and overall well-being,” adds Harding.

Through paying it forward initiatives like these, Dentaid and The Health Lottery are not only addressing immediate dental needs but also contributing to the holistic health and social welfare of vulnerable communities across the UK.
