Finding Balance: How to Prioritise Self-Care While Juggling a Busy Lifestyle during the summer holidays.

As the warm sun casts its golden glow and the sweet scent of flowers bloom in the air, the summer months beckon us to step outside and embrace the joy of life. However, for many of us, the summer season can also bring a whirlwind of activity and a busy schedule that can leave us feeling overwhelmed, out of balance and out of pocket. Transformational Health Coach Nicola Mercer believes that finding harmony amidst the busyness of life is crucial for our overall well being. Nicola says “This is one of the main problems my clients come to me with and they feel totally overwhelmed trying to find a routine that works for them.”

Here’s some practical tips to maintain inner peace this summer.

1- Set boundaries/ Simplify your schedule:

Summer tends to be a season of increased social engagements, holidays and various events. While it’s wonderful to participate in these activities, be mindful of your limitations. Learn to say no to commitments that don’t align with your priorities.

2-Practice mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of being present and fully engaged in the moment. Incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine can help you manage stress, increase focus, and improve overall well-being. Try incorporating mindful practices such as meditation, deep breathing, or yoga into your daily routine.

3-Prioritise sleep

Getting enough sleep is crucial to maintaining your health and well-being. Prioritise getting 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night by establishing a regular bedtime routine, creating a relaxing sleep environment, and limiting screen time before bed.

4-Incorporate movement into your day

Regular physical activity not only benefits your physical health but can also improve your mental health and well-being – and your sleep! Even if you can’t commit to a full workout, try incorporating movement into your day by taking a walk during your lunch break or doing some stretching exercises at your desk.

5-Connect with others

Building strong relationships and social connections is an important aspect of self-care. Whether it’s spending time with friends, joining a social group, or volunteering in your community, making time for social connections can help reduce stress and improve overall well-being.

Nicola Mercer says “ I encourage you to embrace the summer months as a time of renewal and self discovery. By prioritising self care, simplifying your schedule, nurturing your body and creating health boundaries you can find balance and more joy into your life.” “You also don’t have to break the budget and choose to head out for lovely walks in the countryside that are free.

May this summer be a season of growth, joy, and fulfilment as you embark on your quest for balance and well being.
