Testing the Coros Apex Premium Multisport Watch 42mm

I haven’t worn a watch for ages but have been using my phone to record my runs and exercise. It works but I don’t aways remember to switch is on and my step counter only works when I remember to carry my phone.

Even though I have really small wrists, the Coros APEX I tested sat really comfortably on my wrist and the silicone strap was perfect for adjusting for my tiny wrists. There is a choice of colours and personally love the colour I was sent, plum coloured strap and rose gold finish.

Setting up the COROS APEX

I hate instructions manuals so was really pleased to see that the set up was idiot proof. I didn’t have to read the manual! Basically download the App and sync using the QR code on the watch face to connect the device with the phone. Follow the instructions on the app to set up your weight and goals.

You have the option to connect to your messages and calls, so now I don’t have to get my phone out of my pocket on a run. The screen is really easy to read even without my reading glasses.

Changing screens and using devices is really easy, especially in the middle of a workout. With the digital knob, you can easily navigate through the APEX, allowing you to focus on the important things like finishing your run or prepping your next set.

Navigation track

I haven’t used the Navigation Track yet, but the Apex is equipped with track and navigation features. Routes are uploaded and displayed on grid as a bread crumb trail with real time information on heading and elevation and alerts to help you get back on course.

What can you record?

You can select from run, indoor run, trail run, track run, mountain climb, hike, bike, indoor bike, pool swim, open water, triathlon, gym cardio, GPS cardio, ski, snowboard, XC ski, ski touring

APEX Analysis

Once you’ve finished your workout, the COROS App gives you a complete graphical analysis of your training – including: VO2 max, recovery advisor, threshold pace, last-7 days training load, personal fitness index and plenty more. Additionally, you can connect to your favorite 3rd party application. I love this feature as I am a great fan of using Strava. It also connects to TrainingPeaks, RQ, Relive, Final Surge, Runalyze & WeRun. and automatically upload your workouts.

APEX Durable battery life

The APEX, in UltraMax setting, the APEX 42mm battery is carefully engineered to last up to 80 hours using GPS and the 46mm lasts up to 100 hours.
