Top 4 Tips to Boost Your Mood and Well Being

With lockdown restrictions easing all across the globe, it’s quite possible for you to feel blue or anxious about all the changes that are happening around or leaving your home.

That said, here we’ve put together a list of our top four tips to help you boost your mood and well being during these uncertain times.

1.Keep Yourself Active

Now that the restrictions are being lifted, it means you have plenty of ways to keep yourself active.

Given that you can meet your friends and family outdoors, why not decide on a specific time and go for regular walks? Or perhaps, figure out a spot in the nearby garden and workout together?

In doing so, you can enhance your self-esteem and overall mood while also easing those feelings of anxiety and stress. What’s more, you’ll also be able to improve your sleep cycle, meaning you’ll feel more energised and happy every day!

Here are two exercises you could do every morning:

  • Include 2.5 hours (150 minutes) of moderate exercise or 1.25 hours (75 minutes) of high intensity workout.
  • Indulge in strengthening activities that focus on your major muscles; do it twice a week.

When we say moderate exercise, it includes cycling, hiking and brisk walking. If you want, you can go cycling twice a week or brisk walking for 30 minutes every day. On the other hand, when it comes to high intensity workout, it includes mountain biking, aerobics and jogging. The best way to start with high intensity workouts is to sign up for an online class that happens twice a week.

For strength training exercises, you can try pilates or yoga or even sit-ups and push-ups – whatever works for you!

Indulge In An Adrenaline Filled Activity

When it comes to staying active, it doesn’t necessarily mean going for regular walks and cycling (not that it isn’t important, IT IS!); you could also participate in adrenaline fuelled activities like quad bike driving.

Activity centres like Avalanche Adventure not only offer quad biking but also various other outdoor activities that can help you improve your well being. The best part about participating in such activities is that you get to do it with your friends and family.

So why not plan for a day out with your closed ones, pack all you favourite drinks and snacks and head to the nearest activity centre?

Just ensure that you aren’t sharing your food and drinks with others and maintaining the said distance – after all, we are not yet done with this ongoing pandemic!

2.Get a Good Night’s Sleep

If you’ve noticed that your sleep cycle has turned upside down during these uncertain times, then you aren’t alone!

Apart from the ongoing situation, there are a lot of other things that are adding to one’s stress and that’s what’s resulting in many of us feeling depressed and anxious all the time. This is ultimately affecting your sleep cycle.

Here are a few things that you can do to improve your sleep pattern:

  • Stick to a proper routine; wake up and go to bed at the same time every day
  • Try CBD vaping like CBD e-liquids to improve your sleep cycle
  • Keep your phone aside at least an hour before you go to bed
  • Before going to sleep, listen to soothing music or take a warm bath
  • Stop drinking caffeine, especially in the evening
  • Workout every day
  • Make your room as quiet and dark as possible before sleeping

3.Create A Diet and Follow It Properly

Since this past one year, we’re not only spending the majority of our time indoors but have also started to experiment with the food we eat.

In fact, all that we’ve been doing is spending more time cooking various cuisines, eating them and cleaning the dishes at the end of the day. Some of us have also turned to consuming a lot of fast food.

While resorting to ready-made meals and takeaways is okay every now and then, you shouldn’t completely shift towards eating them regularly. This is especially because they’re high in saturated fats, sugar and salt; they also lack the vital nutrients your body requires every day.

Following and eating a balanced diet with home cooked foods, on the other hand, is an excellent way to ensure you remain healthy and fill your mind full of positive thoughts.

Not only will your body receive those essential nutrients, but it will also be able to stop your blood sugar level from dropping, making you feel less tired.

4.Sign Up for Online Self-Care Sessions

It doesn’t matter whether you’re living alone or with your family, it’s crucial to have some me-time throughout the week.

Perhaps, you could sign yourself up for a pampering or self-care session where you can do away with all your worries and feel relaxed. This could either be an hour-long binge session of your favourite TV series or a walk in the park or an indulgent session filled with sheet masks and bubble bath.

Whatever means you choose, just make sure that it’s helping you recharge and once you’re done with these sessions, it makes you feel motivated and energised for the remaining week.

However, if you want to give that screen time some rest and are looking for other ways to boost your mood and overall well being, then you could choose yoga and breathing exercises. These stress-relieving exercises are sure to help you calm down!

To Sum Up

Yes, we understand that these uncertain times are extremely stressful and exhausting. But that doesn’t mean you don’t think about yourself or take out some me-time.

Simply follow the tips mentioned above and you’ll be good to go. If this also doesn’t help you out, don’t be afraid to seek help.

No matter what issues you have, don’t let them get to you and remain positive!
