Top 5 Tips: Get Set for Summer Skin

  1. ALL about the SPF! Although we should consider a level of UV protection all year round, the summer months are when we need to ramp this up.   2. Drink plenty of WATER: Hydration is crucial for skin health, especially in summer when heat and sun exposure can lead to dehydration. The general recommendation is 6-8 cups (about 1.5-2 litres) of water daily, though individual needs may vary. Eating water-rich fruits and vegetables (e.g., cucumbers, watermelon) and reducing caffeine intake (which can dehydrate) are also good practices.
  3. EAT THE Rainbow: Consuming a variety of plant-based foods provides a wealth of antioxidants, including polyphenols, and can help maintain a healthy, radiant complexion and protect against environmental damage. Foods like cooked tomatoes (rich in lycopene, a type of carotenoid), green tea (abundant in catechins, a class of polyphenols), and dark chocolate (with high cocoa content, packed with flavonols) are excellent sources of these skin-loving nutrients. 
  4. Get more SLEEP. Lack of sleep will not only impact your skin and appearance on the outside but hinder skin repair and collagen production from the inside. Avoiding screens before bed (blue light disrupts melatonin production), establishing a consistent sleep schedule, and relaxing routines (e.g., lavender baths) improve sleep quality.
