Tried & tested non alcoholic cocktails

Over lock down I know many people enjoyed a few too many lock down drinks to keep the spirits high. It seemed all too easy to have a sneaky G&T or rum & coke in the afternoon, especially when the sun was shining! No one needed to drive anywhere and let’s face it some of us needed a drink!

But come 2021 our household decided that although the afternoon G&T was a nice treat, we would rather not be consuming alcohol regularly.  We decided to investigate some of the non alcoholic cocktails and clean spirits on the market to see if they passed the taste test.

Our verdict on non alcoholic cocktails

Below are some of the ones we have tried & tested and loved. I have to say I am definitley impressed with the variety, different flavours and ways to enjoy a non alcoholic drink.

Clean R, served over ice with a coke defintely made me feel like I was sipping a rum & coke and the Fluere original with tonic and a slice of lemon fooled me into thinking I was enjoying my usual G&T.

We took the cocktail cans on a picnic and our firm favourite was the Mojito, although we also enjoyed the other two flavours. I just hope that as we start to ease out of lockdown, more pubs and restaurants start to offer these kind of drinks rather than just the usual high sugar fruit juices and fizzy soda brands.

So for those that want to make the switch, you don’t have to wait for ‘Dry January’ you can try these delicious alternatives this summer!

Clean R

Clean R is a take on Spiced Caribbean Rum. Warming spice, golden caramel and cayenne pepper – delicious.

Big flavoured Jamaican rum is mixed with their secretly guarded blend of spices. This boldly flavoured distillate is combined with other ingredients to create the finished low alcohol spirit.

Serve 50ml over ice, topped with cola or ginger ale and a wedge of fresh lime. RRP: £19 https://clean.co/

Clean T

Clean T offers a sequence which is earthy and fruity (reminiscent of ripe melon), with woody, oak notes, green olive and a peppery rocket and watercress finish.

Serve – with a kick – try your hand at a ‘Triple T’:

Grab a highball glass and add some ice. Pour a 50ml serving of Clean T over the rocks before topping up with 150ml of chilled tonic. Add a dash of Tabasco to spice things up and garnish with a wedge of orange and a small bird’s eye chili.  RRP:  £19  https://clean.co/
