Windrush Walk: A Community Celebration of Heritage, Diversity, and Connection

For the past 3 years Bristol Steppin Sistas (Walking group) has celebrated the Windrush Day with a short walk and small picnic in St Agnes Park to finish off the day.

This has recently been successful as the growth of the walk, gets larger each year.

This year we will be collaborating with Daniel Palmer – Civic Partnership Manager – Everyone Active Community Leisure Charitable Trust you can read about them here Everyone Active – Leading Operator for Gym, Swim and Activities and celebrating with the Bristol Community, everyone is invited to take part in the walk, regardless of their background, wearing bright colourful clothes walking through the streets of St Pauls onto St Agnes Park, Thomas Street 

The aim is to help Strength community connections between different generations, cultures, and communities. Empower racially minoritised communities through shared storytelling and cultural appreciation. Creating safe spaces for community dialogue around identity, heritage, and belonging. Encouraging physical and mental well-being through walking and social engagement

The walk starts at 1pm from Portland Square, Bristol on Sunday 22 June 2025.

The party in the park starts at 2pm. There will be Information stalls, Videographer (David Mathias David Mathias – FilmFreeway) drumming & storytelling, Agriculture/Horticultural planting pots for young people, music by a well-known local DJ (GF Selecta Watson, Bristol based) who is very successful in his work and has been playing music in many parts of the UK for communities and much more

Avon & Somerset Police will be supporting the event, alongside the NHS, Bristol City Council, Age UK, Bristol Health Partners and many more

The whole event is free, so come join in the fun and celebrate in style.
