Introducing Offshore Baltic Yoga!  Can you help us connect?

We are a crew of offshore engineers and technicians currently working in the renewables energy sector in The Baltic, building windfarms and ultimately working towards providing clean energy.  A few of us have decided to take up the November Yoga Challenge this year which is organised by Macmillan Cancer Support.

Yoga is new territory for us – our poses will be wonky and our vocabulary challenged – but we are all learning so much already.

This is something that we have decided to do as a team on our own initiative and in our own time off-shift. It’s great to feel connected to all walks of life as we join in. The extraordinary work that Macmillan do is close to many of our hearts out here too – especially when we spend much time away from our loved ones ashore.

Of the challenge, Drilling Supervisor A. MacFarlane said “It’s a great wee challenge for everyone. There are lots of people who are interested and getting involved.  It helps keep us grounded, centred, balanced, flexible, strong, calm, clear-headed, focussed, relaxed and happy – free from stress and anxiety.  In other words, it keeps us sane!”

Macmillan Cancer Support provide emotional, practical, physical and financial support to those who need it and are 98% funded by donations. As we take part, we are also discovering a great way to bring healthy conversation about well-being to an often-challenging environment.  We have smiles on our faces here and can’t wait for a bendy November 😃
