It’s important for us to accept, know, celebrate, and talk about turmeric when addressing our everyday health and wellness concerns.

Bala Sarda, Founder & CEO of VAHDAM® India

While the western world has only discovered turmeric as a superfood in the last decade, in India it has been from a time before recorded history and In Indian culture, the importance of turmeric goes far beyond medicine:

  • The Hindu religion sees turmeric as auspicious and sacred
  • Evidence of turmeric has been found in the ancient Harappa civilisation, dating back to around 4500 BCE
  • From cooking to cosmetics and healing to housekeeping and dyeing, Indians have long been aware of the diverse properties and multitude of health benefits it carries
  • India is the largest producer, consumer and exporter of turmeric in the world, contributing 80% of the world’s turmeric production and 60% of the world’s exports
  • Turmeric was such an integral part of a lifestyle that it has 53 different names in Sanskrit. Each character celebrates the benefit of Turmeric. No wonder, Turmeric is the golden child of Ayurveda!
  • There is a Hindu wedding day ceremony known as the Turmeric (haldi) ceremony where a paste of Turmeric powder, curd, sandalwood, gram flour, and either milk or rose water is applied to the bride and groom’s skin by the family which aids in purifying the couple

VAHDAM® India offers a wide range of certified organic, vegan, turmeric-based teas, lattes, instant premixes and elixirs. They blend premium-quality Indian turmeric, considered to be the best in the world, with other time-honored healthy superfoods, like ginger, ashwagandha, moringa, and an array of spices and herbs that are 100% natural, pure and caffeine-free.

Bala added: “India is a magical, magical land. From the world’s finest teas, delectable spices and enriching Ayurveda, to the healing art of yoga – all originate from our magnificent country.
