Why I’m quitting Twitter and Alcohol

Just over a year ago, I embarked on a controlled recovery to help manage my addiction to alcohol.

I spoke with many former addicts who advised on the dangers of a controlled recovery so soon after my drink had spiralled out of control.

It has been a learning curb for me and tricky at times but I stuck to it and kept it under control.

As the year progressed, I started to feel a change in my personality and how I felt about drink.

They say 1 in 5 can grow out of addiction. I’ve been told I’m one of those five.

However, it’s come to a point where I actually don’t enjoy the taste anymore. Perhaps I never enjoyed the taste and it was just a substitute for running away from my personal problems.

I have also found social media more of a distraction over the last few months.

Mainly twitter. So as I embark on my third attempt of sobriety, I have decided to log out off my twitter for the foreseeable. Who knows I might be back but in this present time, Instagram is enough for me and I want to live in the real world for a while.

With filming back on for my documentary, I feel it’s important to be sober for this as it gives out the correct message and highlights the dangers of addiction and a controlled recovery.

Most that know me, know my happiest times were when I was sober.

If lock down has taught me anything, it’s to make adjustments and changes to your lifestyle that will have huge benefits later on in life. Life is short and I want to make sure I reach my full potential.

I shall be vlogging my journey across Instagram to give people an insight into my sober journey, something I did in 2018 and it helped a lot of people who were facing similar problems.

So here’s to sober life and living in the real world.

The curse turned to grace when the hurt turned to faith. DMX
