When we first interviewed Zibby Allen in an earlier edition of Wellbeing Magazine, we were struck not only by her thoughtful approach to creativity and wellbeing, but by her deepening relationship with herbs, ritual and the quiet intelligence of plants.

Since then, we have loved watching her tea journey evolve — less as a passing interest and more as a living practice rooted in nourishment, curiosity and care. So it felt only natural to invite her to share one of her favourite recipes with our readers.
What she offers here is more than a tea. It is a traditional nourishing infusion — a mineral-rich botanical tonic designed not for quick fixes, but for restoration over time. When wellness can often lean toward stimulation, optimisation and “more,” there is something quietly radical about returning to replenishment.
What we love about this recipe is its simplicity. Left to steep overnight in cool filtered water, the herbs slowly release their gifts, creating an infusion that feels less like a beverage and more like a ritual of care. It is a reminder that wellbeing is often built not in dramatic interventions, but in the small, repeated acts that nourish us day by day.
Whether you are recovering from depletion, looking to support energy naturally, or simply craving a daily practice that feels grounding and restorative, this is a beautiful place to begin.
Below, Zibby shares her go-to blend for mineral replenishment and tissue nourishment — a subtle, refreshing infusion that proves sometimes the most foundational remedies are also the most profound.
Mineral Replenishment & Tissue Nourishment
A nourishing infusion for anyone recovering from illness, dealing with fatigue, anemia, brittle hair or nails, or chronic stress depletion – or simply someone who wants a deeply restorative daily ritual (me, lately)
The blend (suggested ratio):
- 3 parts oat straw
- 3 parts nettle
- 2 parts chamomile
- 2 parts calendula
- ½ part hibiscus
- ½ part licorice root
My preferred method lately: combine the herbs in a carafe or jar, fill with filtered water, cover, and refrigerate overnight. Strain in the morning and drink throughout the day. I’ve been absolutely loving this as my daily ritual — it’s genuinely refreshing and feels so good in the body.
This one is less flashy than other herbal blends, but arguably the most foundational. Traditional herbalists would call it a “nourishing infusion” — something you drink in generous amounts over time to rebuild rather than treat acutely.
Oat straw and nettle are one of the great herbal pairings. Oat straw is extraordinarily rich in silica, calcium, and magnesium, directly feeding bones, hair, nails, connective tissue, and the nervous system’s protective sheath. Nettle layers in iron, vitamin K, chlorophyll, and a broader mineral spectrum, making it one of the most nutritionally dense herbs available. Together they work like a slow, deep rebuilding project at the cellular level.
Calendula brings tissue-healing and lymphatic support, keeping the body’s internal cleanup systems moving, while chamomile softens the blend with gentle anti-inflammatory action throughout the body — gut, skin, nervous system. The small amount of hibiscus adds vitamin C, which actively increases iron absorption from the nettle, a genuinely useful synergy. Licorice ties it all together with natural sweetness and its own adrenal-supportive, anti-inflammatory properties.
Taste profile: subtle, refreshing, and ever so slightly sweet!
