Boosting energy with Natural vs Synthetic Supplements

The energy we expend to accomplish daily activities comes from three primary fuel sources; carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. Usually, maintaining the body’s natural energy levels requires eating a healthy diet, regular exercise, and getting quality sleep. Unfortunately, most people don’t meet these requirements, and due to that, they don’t get the minimum amount of energy needed to accomplish their daily activities. And that’s why supplements are required. A study shows that more than half of the US population take supplements to meet their body’s daily energy demand or derive some other benefits. These supplements are generally of two categories. The natural ones are usually from whole food sources in our diet, and the synthetic ones are made industrially(e.g. vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals).

There are various reasons you may need to take natural or synthetic supplements, such as:

  • to energize the body and keep it working efficiently.
  • sustaining a health condition
  • to improve your overall well-being
  • to prevent serious diseases and complications
  • to boost the immune system

Because natural and synthetic supplements’ sources and production processes differ, their effectiveness and digestion process in the body also differ.

Natural supplements which are the best collagen creamer are taken out from the natural sources (plants and animals), and are proven to function just like they would in their original form. Hence have almost no adverse effect on the body. They are a good source of additional energy and can offer immense health benefits to the body.

On the other hand, synthetic supplements that make up most of the available ones use chemicals to imitate natural nutrients. Although, you may think they both contain the same nutrients as written on the labels.

The truth is, synthetic supplements don’t perform the same task in the body as natural supplements. Studies have shown that synthetic supplements pose specific health threats to the body, unlike their natural counterparts. And, they don’t offer as many health benefits or nourishments as natural supplements.

Dangers of Synthetic supplements

1.Increased risk of cancer

“Anything” synthetic doesn’t go well with the body. Research in the US shows that using dietary supplements, especially vitamin A and beta carotene, can increase one’s risk of cancer significantly. The study involved thousands of patients, and the results showed that those who took synthetic supplements had a higher chance of developing health complications such as cancer. For people who smoke, the risk of lung cancer is significantly higher with beta carotene supplements.

2.Increased risk of heart disease and shorter lifespan

Taking synthetic calcium supplements for any reason can increase your chances of developing heart disease by up to 20%. From the 1990s till date, cardiovascular diseases have been the leading cause of death in the US. Using synthetic calcium supplements, especially at an unchecked rate, can increase cardiovascular risks and lead to a shorter lifespan. For healthy postmenopausal women, synthetic calcium supplements increase the risk of heart disease by up to 15%.

3.Increased risk of bleeding

High quantities of vitamin E can result in an increased risk of bleeding. Men who consumed synthetic vitamin E supplements for health or other reasons had a 17% risk of developing prostate cancer than those who took a placebo.

4.Low bone mineral density and increased risk of fracture

Low bone mineral density and increased risk of fracture is another risk of High levels of vitamin A, particularly in women. Plus, if a woman suffers from low vitamin D levels, the risk becomes even higher.

Why Natural supplements are better

You can benefit from natural supplements either by directly eating fresh, natural foods or consuming supplements processed from them. The name; “natural.” points to the simple reason why taking natural supplements are far better than synthetic ones. They contain just about the same nutrients as their raw forms, such as a wide array of vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, fibre, and fatty acids. Based on the constituents that make up the natural supplement, its health benefits are high compared to others. But overall, only natural supplements are suitable for the body. NCBI affirmed this in a research report which reads: “It concludes that lessons of history as well as modern science support the view that natural vitamins are nutritionally superior to synthetic ones.”

Some health benefits

1.Fruits and Vegetables

Supplements made from fruits and vegetables provide substantial health benefits. Studies have shown that when you consume higher quantities of fruits and vegetables, your risk of contracting heart diseases becomes lower, and your digestive system functions more effectively. You also are less susceptible to cancer, arthritis, diabetes, and certain brain disorders.

Furthermore, you enjoy lower blood pressure, reduced oxidative stress, and even improved blood sugar control. Each daily portion of vegetables or fruits you consume helps you reduce the risk of heart disease by 4–7%.

2.Oily Fish

Supplements containing high quantities of omega-3 fatty acids (such as in oily fish) improve heart health and overall well-being. People who incorporate natural omega-3 supplements into their diet tend to have a lower risk of heart attacks. They are less likely to have strokes or even battle the risk of death from heart diseases.

3.Whole Grains

Whole grains supplements contain lots of valuable nutrients, including fibre, vitamin B, and minerals. Since supplements offer virtually the same health benefits as the raw form, whole grain supplements help with protection against cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Due to the abundance of fibre, the supplement helps to improve bowel movements and increase satiety, thereby leading to healthy weight loss.

Endnote

Supplements can also be from nuts and seeds, beans, and legumes. They are all highly packed with minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants, which help keep the body functioning optimally.

Due to the immense health and energy benefits of natural supplements, they are beginning to replace synthetic ones in the market. A typical example of a healthy natural supplement that boosts energy levels and improves well-being contains zero sugar, no artificial substance, and is GMO-free. Furthermore, It provides sufficient energy for daily activities, improves focus, and significantly boosts metabolism and fat burning without leading to any health crisis.
